Methodology

How is the evidence score calculated?
The evidence score (0–100) is a composite of: number of human RCTs (weighted by sample size), average effect size relative to control, replication by independent research groups, meta-analysis inclusion, and safety profile. Scores are reviewed quarterly by the BestSupplements.best editorial team against current PubMed data.
How is the hype score calculated?
The hype score (0–100) is based on: global Google search volume trend (Jan–Apr 2026 vs prior year), social media mention volume across TikTok, Instagram, Reddit and X, media coverage frequency, and retail sales growth data from SPINS and iHerb. A supplement can have a high hype score with no evidence (e.g. colostrum for general use) or high evidence with low hype (e.g. berberine historically).
