Nigella sativa (black seed) oil is pressed from the seeds of a flowering plant native to Southwest Asia. Thymoquinone (TQ) is the primary bioactive compound, with demonstrated antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and antimicrobial properties in laboratory and animal studies. Human trials are accumulating but remain small.
