Immune Support
The immunomodulatory polysaccharide from oats, mushrooms, and yeast
Beta-glucans are naturally occurring polysaccharides (complex carbohydrates) found in oats, barley, mushrooms, and yeast cell walls. They are not all the same — oat beta-glucan (1,3/1,4 linkage) is studied primarily for cholesterol reduction, while mushroom and yeast beta-glucan (1,3/1,6 linkage) is the primary immunomodulatory form. Beta-glucans bind to Dectin-1 receptors on macrophages and neutrophils, enhancing innate immune surveillance.
WGP 3-6 (whole glucan particles from baker's yeast) or 1,3/1,6 beta-glucan from oats/mushrooms
250–500 mg/day (immunomodulatory); 3 g/day oat beta-glucan for cholesterol
Very safe. Not appropriate for organ transplant recipients (immune stimulation). May cause mild GI discomfort. Quality varies widely between products — choose certified beta-glucan content.
